Sherpa Coral Glass Beads, Strand
An antique strand of Sherpa "Coral" glass beads, made to imitate rare red coral. Rounds with flat ends in shape with a few variants (see photo). Smooth with some pitting, beads average 15mm x 16mm with 3-4.5mm hole for stringing. From the Sherpa people who inhabit the region around the Himalayan mountain range. From the early 1900s. A few beads may be chipped or dirty from what used to be daily prayer use. 26" strand, 55 beads.
