Rare Roman Glass Beads

Ancient Roman glass beads excavated from Djenne.  Over 2000 years old.  These small beads measure anywhere from tiny approx. 1mm x 1mm to 6mm x 4mm each; .5mm to 1mm hole. Various shapes and color ranges from aqua to cobalt, and there is some calcification.  This 24" strand has a nice assortment of yellow, gray, white, blue and green mostly opaque, but some translucent, glass beads.

Charming 24" strand of 2000+ year old Roman glass beads. Awesome selection of white and grays, all opaque with heavy calcification (the strand may need to be washed because they are somewhat dusty) on practically each bead. Each strand has a variety of bead shapes, sizes, and colors.  They were excavated around Djenné (which is near Timbuktu) in the country of Mali.  The average size for a beads is roughly 2-4mm long x 3-4mm in diameter, although each strand does have a few larger beads. PHOTO shows many strands twisted together, sold separately; roughly 200 BEADS PER STRAND.

Awesome blue and white glass beads with some additional colours in the mix (as well as an occasional Venetian bead for variety).  Each strand has a variety of bead shapes, sizes, and colors.  They were excavated around Djenné (which is near Timbuktu) in the country of Mali.  There is some calcification on a few beads. African Traders call these "Dig Beads". They are ancient glass beads excavated in Djenne, Mali and date back 1500 – 2000 years. Made in Italy, they followed the Sahara Trade Route to Mali. Colors can vary, but they are most commonly aqua blue; calcification on glass is common. 19" strand of graduated beads ranging from the very small (3×2mm) to medium size (13 × 5mm). Very Rare!

Large Roman glass bead over 2000 years old! This bead was excavated in Djenne, Mali in Africa. This bead, and others like it, were traded along the Sahara trade route. 14mm long x 18mm diameter with 4mm hole with a multitude of blue and white and red "eyes".

Ancient, 2000+ years old Roman glass striped bead, excavated in Djenne, Mali, Africa. This bead and others like it have long been traded along the Sahara trade route. Nice bead which is large and has large eyes and a big stripe.  Very rare. 12mm long x 13mm diameter with 3mm hole.

Ancient Roman glass eye bead excavated in Djenne, Mali, Africa.  Approximately 2000 years old and traded along the Sahara trade route. Large, chipped, squashed bicone shaped 13mm long x 14mm diameter with 2mm hole; whitish glass with blue "eyes"; some calcification and missing one eye.
