27" strand of ancient carnelian beads excavated from Djenne, Mali in Africa. Between 1,000 – 2,000 years old. Small cylindrical short tubes that range in size from 4mm diameter x 6mm to 8mm in diameter x 9mm. We have four strands in stock, and strand will be chosen at random.

BACK IN STOCK! These amazonite "dig beads" are excavated in Djenne, Mali and are considered more valuable than the Nigerian ancient amazonite. These are about 2,000 years old and have a brighter turquoise color. Gram-wise they average 1.2 to 1.6 grams. They range in size from 11mm diameter x 6mm thick to 11mm diameter x 9mm thick to 14mm in dismeter x 6mm thick. BACK IN STOCK!  These magnificent ancient stone beads are excavated in Djenne, Mali. Varying in size and shape. Their conical holes are about 1- 2mm in center. This "small" size ranges from 5× 15mm to 11 × 17mm, and this bunch is "biscuit" shaped and light in color. Some are opaque while others are semi-translucent. Photo shows variety in shape and color, SOLD SEPARATELY, not as a group

30" strand of ancient stone beads with bow-drilled holes (conical shape from either side). Possibly from either Mali or India (and traded in Africa).  Most are Carnelian with some red jasper mixed in. They are both flat thick and thin discs (some are faceted) and a few are squashed ovals; very rare. Beads average size range from 2mm x 10mm to 9mm x 14mm.

Here is a 21" strand of small Red-Pink Bauxite discs from Nigeria circa 1900s. Discs average approx 6-8mm wide x 4-5mm tall (with some bigger and some smaller), with a 3mm hole.  What’s "bauxite"?  It is a  rock, comprised of iron and aluminum, and is the primary ore of aluminum.

Trivia time: Professor Charles Martin Hall of Oberlin College developed a method to cheaply extract aluminum first from cryolite & then bauxite ore in 1886.  Bead Paradise is located in Oberlin, OH.

Gorgeous ancient granite beads approx. 2000 years old, excavated in Djenne, Mali. Smooth in two different shapes barrels and ovals (from 10mm x 7mm to 21mm x 16mm), approx 1.5 – 3mm hole thru them.
