The Tuareg tribe of Mauritania, Mali, and Niger has a fantastic silversmithing style incorporating mixed metals, fine etching and engraving techniques, and unique shapes and symbols. Jewelry is worn and fabricated by men in a strongly upheld tradition. Most of what we offer here is antique, but new things will be listed soon.

Antique silver prayer box and chain made in the early 1900s in Mauritania by the Tuareg people. Prayer box is highly detailed silver work with the stamp of the maker on the back (in Arabic); 49mm x 38mm x 16mm thick with 6 dangles. Chain is 20" and made of traditional silver and glass beads with small clover-shaped dangles. Sorry, no discount on this item.

Medium Tuareg Carnelian Pendant, A

Cut in Idar-Oberstein, Germany in the mid – late 1800’s and traded with the Tuareg tribe in Mali, these pendants are each uniquely carved. Worn primarily by men as a pendant, they are sometimes set in a ring or framed in silver settings as a pendant. This is the medium variety, measuring 65mm long x 34mm wide x 5mm thick. Photo shows two pendants, SOLD SEPARATELY not as a pair.
