Vintage Austrian Glass Beads, Jet Fire Polish Teardrops

Yes, Austria is not Germany, but it's close enough to be in our Vintage German Glass Beads category.  In any case, these are vintage late 1940s Austrian made glass teardrops.  Each 9mm x 6mm beads is Jet Black and fire polish (meaning is have been machine molded, facet cut and then"fire-polished" to make them very shiny and hard to scratch).  50 beads to a strand.

Vintage German Glass, Fire Polish Colorado Topaz

1970s vintage, German made fire polish 8mm diameter beads.  Dark "Colorado" topaz in color.  25 beads per strand.

These glass beads are pressed in a mold, then machine faceted and polished.  The fire-polishing technique produces a scratch-resistant bead with slightly rounded facets.

Vintage tapered ovals from the swinging ’60s!  German made  15mm x 11mm (7mm thick) ovals with a twist; cinnamon browns and clear givré.  15 beads per strand.

What is givré? While most of the earliest givré beads, made in West Germany, were frosted with  inclusions of other colors, "givre" is now used to describe any bead—frosted or transparent clear—with "infused" colors.
